Overview of our Services
Planning your Pregnancy
Our children can inherit any genetic conditions that we know are present in the family, or those we may not realize we carry. At Private Genetic Health, we identify risk factors that may increase your chance of having a child with a genetic health difficulty, and can investigate prior to, or even during, the early stages of a pregnancy. Getting screened before you try to become pregnant can give you the reassurance you need.
Paediatric Genetics
Approximately three percent of all living newborns have a congenital difference or health problem. These conditions may be evident shortly after birth or later in the child's life.
While genetic and developmental disorders are individually rare, collectively they are the leading cause of infant mortality and childhood disability.
Adult Genetics
We offer diagnostic and predictive testing for adult onset genetic conditions. We also re-evaluate adults who have an undiagnosed childhood onset genetic condition, using the latest genetic technology to, hopefully, finally complete their diagnostic odyssey.
Mapping your Family Tree
A family tree (or pedigree) is prepared by your clinician to understand the risk of inheriting of a particular disorder. The pedigree identifies affected members of both sides of the family, this information is used to calculate the risk of recurrence for your children.
Finding the Right Gene test for you
The genetic test recommended by your clinician will be determined by the level of detail they require for diagnosis. Most genetic tests will require a simple blood sample, however, unlike 'normal' blood tests, the results may take months to return.
Advocacy & Education
Private Genetics Health empowers families on their journey with a loved one who is affected by a genetic condition & aims to create a community of health care workers who are not afraid to face these rare conditions head on with the family and facilitate access to the best life achievable.
